On the Third Day of Kentmas – My First Purchased Console

By in Uncategorized

I tend to have a habit of picking the duds when acquiring consoles. By duds, I mean they got less support than the other consoles released at the time (Darn you Playstation!). For instance, I got a Sega Game Gear and a Sega Saturn. Both fine systems, but they were each about a year away from fading into oblivion when I got them.

The Saturn was the first system I bought with my own money. I had to do buy my own system because my parents wouldn’t buy me one. Something about video games rotting my brain or something. Also, I had to be on the honor roll in order to be allowed to buy it.

The Saturn came with Virtua Fighter 2, Virtua Cop, Daytona (Daytooonnnnna!) and Nights into Dreams.

Nights into Dreams

I had other games too* (I spent most of my spare classes with friends playing Street Fighter Alpha) but Nights will always hold a special place in my heart. It was just a really fun game.

I was kinda joking in the last post about how Nintendo should bring Smurfs: Rescue in Gargamel’s Castle to the Wii Virtual Console. I’m not joking about this. Nintendo, bring Nights (and the other Sega Saturn games) to the virtual console. They’re probably smaller than the N64 games, so storage shouldn’t be an issue. Also, Sega needs to release a sequel to Nights on the Wii. The controller is perfect for this game.
