I always wondered why Sony went with symbols instead of letters for their controllers. I just assumed it was so their controller wouldn’t look like a rip off of the SNES and Genesis controllers. I think this was a bit of a mistake as letters are, IMO, more user friendly. I think it’s easy to remember moves like A, A, B than circle, circle, square (quicker to say too). I guess in the end it doesn’t really matter because you won’t be looking at the controller when you are playing anyways. You just need to build up the muscle memory in your thumbs to know what buttons to press.
